第三節、研究限制
在解釋社會資本、上網時數及網路成癮的關係上,本研究有三項限制:因果 推論、社會資本的線上-線下區分、上網目的分類。由於台灣社會變遷基本調查 為橫斷設計,回答因果關係的問題實非其強項。故本研究謹藉用其抽樣嚴謹、代 表性及樣本數均充足的優勢來回答關係變化的問題。未來仍須有研究進一步探討 若在特定年齡層中,社會資本和網路成癮有關,這個相關是誰影響誰?這部分的 探討或許能更幫助我們更了解社會資本或網路成癮的本質為何。
其次,過去有部分探討社會資本-網路成癮的研究將社會資本區分為線上與 線下(現實)的社會資本(Yang et al., 2016)並且發現線上、線下的社會資本和網路成 癮關係的不一致性。但本研究因屬次級資料分析,問卷中的題項並未明確區分社 會資本的來源或接觸的管道,故無從了解線上/線下社會資本是否為社會資本與 網路成癮的關係帶來不一致性。未來對社會資本與網路成癮關係感興趣的研究者 或許可以朝此方向進一步探索。
最後,因本次台灣社會變遷基本調查區分上網目的為社交娛樂上網、工作生 活上網。可是根據 Lin (2001)對於社會資本的概念,社會資本為一種透過接觸社 會網絡來完成目標或因應問題的資源,較能對應的恐怕只有社交目的上網,而非 娛樂目的上網。可是既有問卷中僅有社交與娛樂一起出現的訪問題。這或許能解 釋何以社交娛樂上網對於社會資本和網路成癮的關係完全看不到調節作用出現。
未來,對上網目的調節作用感興趣的研究者或許可以在區分出單一上網目的的情 況下去看社會資本與網路成癮的關係。
