interviews however, should be divided into two groups.Group one was structured in-depth interviews on the policies and development of ASEM, ASEF and ASEAN. The total number of in-depth interviews was with the government officials, ASEAN staff, ASEF staff and EC staff. Each of the in-depth interviews lasted for 30 minutes to 1.5 hour. With some interviewees the author conducted multiple interviews with time space of two years in between. The total number of these interviews was 82.
