AIDS PIONEER TO SPEAK AT
INTERNATIONAL BIOSCIENCE SYMPOSIUM AT HKUST
Dr Robert Gall-the discoverer of the HIV-l virus who also proved it causes AIDS-will be keynote speaker at the Second International Symposium of the Asia Pacific Society of Bioscientists held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 8 to 11 July 1996.
Dr Gal10 will report on recent developments in his search for natural biological approaches to control HIV and HIV disease in its early stages in his lecture on Thursday, 11 July 1996 at 4 pm in HKUST’s Lam Woo Lecture Theatre.
The lecture by Dr Gallo, who is director of the University of Maryland’s Institute for Human Virology and Biotechnology Institute and who was the most referenced scientist in the world between 1980 and 1990, is the highlight of the four- day meeting of Asian bioscientists.
More than 200 bioscientists from Australia, China, Ja an, Korea, North America, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam will be attending tl! e symposium and workshop. Scientific papers will be given on a wide range of biotechnology research developments and the future prospects of biotech research and commercialization in Hong Kong and the region.
