On the Item Analysis of Basic Mathematic Ability

Assessment for Mailiao Township Elementary

Schools of Yulin County

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to estimate the result of the 98 Acdamic Year Basic Mathematic Abitity Testing Program, by using the TestGraf98 software for the Mailiao Township elementary schools in Yunlin County. By means of the analysis of the multiple-choice items is to search for the misconception of students, which would be a good reference for teachers who can adjust their teaching methods and proceed on remedy instruction.

In this study, two classes of the sixth grade students were selected from Mailiao Elementary School in Yunlin County. The result of this study was analyzed through the item option characteristic curve model. The findings of this study were as the following:

1. The 35 questions from the 98 Acdamic Year Basic Mathematic Testing

Program for the Mailiao Township elementary schools in Yunlin County which mainly assess the ability of number, quantity, geometry, algebra, statistics and probability. The reliability of the test is 0.891, and the pass rate is 0.68. All of them had good statistical properties.

2. The 35 questions examined by the TestGraf98 software were effective

diagnostic function to help teachers to develop the achievement and diagnostic tests.

3. Subjects perform less pass rate in probability, volume and scale of geometry,

however, they have higher pass rate in algebra.

At last, according to the findings of this study, some applications for the instructional activities and the further researches were recommended.

A生:對阿。 A生: 3 1 。 A生:對阿。
