After teaching for 40 years, when Millicent “Mama” Hill left her job at a school in Los Angeles, California, she decided to make her home a safe place for kids from poor families in her community. Since then, almost 3,000 kids have taken it as their second home, where they

Mentioning school lunches often brings back memories of overcooked foods that many of us struggled to eat every day when we were in school. But, when it comes to school lunches, Japanese school children may be the luckiest kids in the world. Great care is taken in

developing their delicious lunches. There is a nutritionist(營養師) at every school. She or he determines the menu for the school lunches. The nutritionists promote traditional Japanese dishes and internationally-themed meals. The meals are so delicious that parents have called the schools and asked for recipes. These school lunches are not only delicious but also balanced healthy meals.

School lunches in Japan introduce students to healthy eating habits by balancing each meal with choices from the major food groups. Some experts think this practice helps to maintain a low obesity(肥胖) rate among Japanese children. They think that the healthy school lunches teach children about the pleasures of making healthy food choices.
