Distinguished Accounting Scholars Lecture at HKUST

A summer symposium on accounting research is now being held at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. Two world renowned accounting scholars will give a series of lectures on the topic.
Professor Joel Demski, currently the Milton Steinbach ’ Professor of Information and Accounting Systems at Yale University, will deliver lectures on analytical accounting research. Professor Katherine Schipper, currently Professor of Accounting and KPMG Peat Marwick faculty research scholar at the University of Chicago, will give lectures on empirical accounting research.
‘It is the first symposium of this kind in the Asian Pacific region,’ said Professor Jevons Lee, head of Department of Accounting at HKUST. “With these two top scholars leading, we are confident that the symposium will greatly promote accounting research in this region.”
Over 40 academics from various parts of the region are participating in the symposium. Ten working papers will be selected from the participants’ submissions for presentation in a research workshop during the symposium and comments on them will be offered by the two distinguished scholars and other participants.
