Europeans first came to the Americas in the 1400s. They saw many things that they had never seen before. The Europeans had no words for these things. So, they used the Native American names.

The Taino Indians lived in Puerto Rico. They built their round houses out of wood and straw. Inside, the Tainos slept on nets hung from the roof. They called these nets hamacas. And people still call them hammocks.

Taino villages were almost always close to a river. That way, people had fresh water. They could also travel on the river. The Tainos used a long, wooden boat called a canoa. As you can guess, this is where the word canoe came from.

Based on a true story, HBO Asia's latest original series features a teenage girl who is "chosen" to work in a temple and helps people with their daily worries, but she ends up with no time to deal with her own studies.

We tend to think of psychics as invincible thanks to their ability to communicate with a world unseen to the normal eye. But it is the idea of mundane worries existing in their lives that captured the interest of Director Chen Ho Yu.

The idea inspired him to create the short film "The Busy Young Psychic," the story of a day in a teen girl's life as she rushes between school and the temple to solve people’s problems. From there, the story expanded into the short series "The Teenage Psychic."

The new series follows a teen psychic as she meets people at the temple and hears their stories. It's about the paranormal, but the real story, in fact, is about the people’s.

Chen says that religion is a big feature in Taiwanese culture and that going to a temple for help from a psychic is common.

He said most sessions with these psychics are not so much about getting an advantage with help from the supernatural. Rather, they want to express their everyday hopes. Therefore, in the temple, people in their thirties may go ask about their

marriage, parents may want to know more about their children’s school performance, or a dreamer may ask some numbers for the next day’s lottery.

Walt Disney has shelved the release of its new movie "Beauty and the Beast" in mainly Muslim Malaysia, even though film censors said Tuesday it had been approved with a minor cut involving a "gay moment."

The country's two main cinema chains said the movie, which originally begins screening Thursday, has been postponed indefinitely. No reason was given.

Film Censorship Board chairman Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid said he did not know why the film was postponed as it was approved by the board after a minor gay scene was axed. He said scenes promoting homosexuality were forbidden and that the film was given a P13 rating, which requires parental guidance for children under 13 years of age.

"We have approved it but there is a minor cut involving a gay moment. It is only one short scene but it is inappropriate because many children will be watching this movie," Abdul Halim told The Associated Press.

Disney officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Star English-language newspaper cited the Disney company as saying the movie was postponed for an "internal review."

The film's characters include manservant LeFou, who plays the sidekick to the story's villain Gaston, and, according to Director Bill Condon, "is confused about his sexuality." Condon has described a brief scene as a "gay moment."

Russia last week approved the movie but banned children under 16 from watching it.

Malaysia's censors in 2010 loosened restrictions on sexual and religious content in movies, but still kept a tight leash on tiny bikinis, kisses and passionate hugs. But gay characters are allowed to be described in the movies under the conditions that they show repentance or they are portrayed in a negative light. Sodomy, even if

consensual, is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and whipping in Malaysia. censor
