  很榮幸的早一步觀賞到吳教授藝術創作的畫冊,其深邃內涵,有感隨著藝理 飛揚。可想而知吳教授必經歷長期、廣泛閱覽古今藝理群書,吸收內化,讓各家 風格融合與激盪,成為帶領藝術邁進高峰的動力,怡然自在陶醉在藝術的創作世 界裡,以大自然景物經由內在心靈洗滌與過濾瀟灑揮毫,完成傑出藝術創作。   吳教授對藝術理論的鑽研,常年耕耘,渾然自得的精湛;獨到的畫技,型塑 個人繪畫的獨有風格,氣韻生動,抒發胸臆情懷。神馳藝理間的「投入」、「忘 我」專注沉浸的心靈悠遊狀態,感受身心能力提昇進而超越自我,使藝術家能興 高采烈地全力投入繪畫創作且樂此不疲。應驗美國學者Csiksientmihaly 於 1975 年提出的「神馳經驗」(flow experience),從幻化大自然雲水、造型、白雪、 生態彩墨點綴墨韻變化創作,熱愛虛心全神投入不休止的技法突破,不離美學原 則的各種表現實驗,也迎合科技的數位化及藝術思潮之洶湧翻騰,從自然景色攝 取與捨棄之間的再思考,醞釀與整理自己的個性風格。   藝術家的特色是感情最豐富,思維最細膩,視覺最敏銳,感覺最衝動,行事 最活絡,方能走到哪畫到哪。喜歡遨遊名山勝地的吳教授,以「讀萬卷書,行萬 里路」之精神,博覽海內外盛景,綜觀自然景物之繁,人間事物之多,藝術家將 其所觀覽萬物的感覺,選擇性地化為繪畫情緒,以自我個性及對描寫對象的情 感,融入創作,將對造物神奇的感動,創作出感動人心,如有生命源源不息的作 品,挑動觀賞者視覺感的愉悅,心靈上產生的共鳴並自我詮釋,一同將內心懷情 隨之奔放抒發。   此次吳教授在本館以「神馳藝理抒懷情」為主題,以現代思維融合傳統的觀 念,禮讚大自然景物的驚奇鬥艷好采風,描繪其神韻,發抒情誼。從展覽作品中 選出86 幅集印成冊與觀眾分享,期盼引領觀眾藉欣賞過程,能揣摩藝理遨遊神 馳,抒放胸中情懷,淨化心靈,美化生活,輕鬆享受豐富的文化饗宴,發揮本館 推展美藝活動的最高價值。誠摯感謝吳教授以寬懷之心,作為國內外欣賞賓客之 獻禮,祝畫展成功。

I

feel honoured that I could look at Professor Wu’s painting catalogue full of his latest pieces of art work in advance. His paintings have deep substances with profound reflection on and rapture on laws of art. Undoubtedly, Professor Wu must have absorbed and digested old and new books about laws of art that he have widely read for long period of time. His works have indeed integrated all painting schools and their stimulation so that he becomes a force of leading art to progressing towards its height. Relaxingly and delightfully, he feels enamoured with the world of art making. He portrayed nature’s sceneries and objects, through cleansing the soul and mind, by wielding his unrestrained painting brushes. Finally, he produces outstanding art works.

rofessor Wu has studied theory of art carefully. Because of cultivating it quite a long time, his works brilliantly originate in the intellect of the mind. He has his own unique painting techniques to reshape his individual style – a dynamic spirit to fully express inner emotions and feelings. In his rapture on laws of art, he has characters of being “dedicated” and “oblivious of himself”. Immersing himself to travel around in his soul and mind, he feels uplifted – a sense of surmount self which makes him happy to pour his whole energy to be engaged with paintings and never feel tired. This exactly responds to “flow experience” that an American scholar with Hungarian origin Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi proposed in 1975. From nature’s clouds and water, its plastic gestures, white snow, and ecology, Professor Wu’s colour ink changes with rhymes. He has great strength – passion, modesty and dedication to trying breakthrough of techniques, intimacy to make aesthetical principles and various expressions and experiments, catering to use digital technique, and realization to fashion a surging and turnover of art ideas. From nature’s sceneries, he ponders over and re-thinks between taking and discarding. Meantime, he builds up and finalizes his own character and style.

A

rtists usually have features – abundant emotions, delicate way of thinking, sensitive visual sense, impulsive feelings, and active action at most. They can be painted whereas they go. Professor Wu likes to travel around attractive resorts and also keeps to the spirit of a saying: “reading thousands of books and travelling thousands of miles.” He has looked at wonderful sceneries at home and abroad and understood their sophistication. There are so many things and human affairs. However, the artist brings his feelings after seeing all beings and selectively transforms them to pictorial empathy and also integrates his personality and emotions towards his subjects into art making. Feeling touched by the wonder of nature’s creation, he creates art moving people’s hearts. Just like a work with life’s continuous force stirs viewers’ visual delights. In soul and mind, resonance is generated as well as self-interpretation is made. Inner feelings and emotions will be finally expressed freely.

his time, Professor Wu’s paintings are exhibited in our Hall under the title “Wandering in the Arts to Express Feelings.” Combining modern thinking with traditional conception, it praises nature’s sceneries and objects and highlights their stunning brilliant and magnificence. His paintings provide great charm, expressing affections. Among exhibited paintings, 86 paintings selected for this catalogue offers visual delights to audiences. It is also hoped that it is able to guide audiences, while looking at all paintings, to figure out how to release rapture on laws of art, release their feelings, purify soul and mind and beautify everyday life. Above all, it helps you enjoy a rich cultural feast in a relaxing way. This is the highest value that our Hall would like to achieve while promoting art events. I sincerely thank Professor Wu’s generous spirit for offering this precious gift to audiences at home and abroad coming to see this exhibition. I wish this exhibition great success.

吳長鵬教授大自然物語的創作情懷

中華民國油畫學會理事長 桃園縣大老賴傳鑑先生、吳隆榮理事長、客委會前副主委 劉東隆先生、袁玉英教授、梁成福醫師、吳長鵬,以及一 群藝術界生力軍。   大自然充滿神奇與奧妙,形形色色塑造了讓人捕捉不盡的大自然物語,觀覽大自然景象,讓人感受山 海之雄偉氣勢,河川之源遠流長,湖池之平靜,森林之幽寧,礦岩之神秘。變幻莫測之大氣現象,晴雨風雲, 雷電彩虹,雲霧霜雪,時而帶給人們心情喜悅,如晴空萬里,微風徐徐,彩霞滿天,時而讓人體驗嚴厲與 恐怖,如雷電交加,狂風暴雨,猛雪撲地,艷陽蓋頭。天體之日月星辰,有規律的運轉,衍生春夏秋冬四 季的變化,增添大自然美妙故事的豐富性,讓藝術家筆峰大放光彩,音樂藝術譜成天籟之聲,雕塑家則以 大自然之物像,型塑幽柔或粗壯的藝術品,均在描寫大自然意氣橫生,音、形、色生動的創作。可見大自 然景色之繁,人間事物之多,在藝術家視窗造景時,以豐富的感情,敏銳的感覺及超人的智慧,將其個性 和對描寫對象的神韻,以當下創作靈感與衝動,對造物神妙的感動,創造出神奇,具生命力的作品,引起 觀賞者視覺感愉悅,喜愛共鳴,而淨化心靈。   由吳教授繪畫題材的表現,可見其酷愛大自然,因涉足鄉間小溪,攀登高山峻嶺,遊走奧秘森林,觀 覽山泉瀑布,驚訝大自然之優美多變,刺激活絡他的創作靈感,更想表露見景之情懷,及時以隨身攜帶之 速寫簿冊,快速捕捉在視窗中留下的印象,再以彩墨揮運其妙筆,使用多元素材與多變技法,一幅幅栩栩 動人的彩墨圖像意境,叫人嘆為觀止。   吳教授出生於桃園縣龍潭鄉,據其自述,從小即喜愛塗塗畫畫,在鄉居沒有奢華的繪畫工具,小石、 瓦片、樹枝是他的畫筆,地板、牆面、石塊做為畫紙,玩起他的即興自賞的創作。直到就讀省立台北師範 藝術科(今國立台北教育大學),才真正步上繪畫創作之途,奠下繪畫創作學理基礎。畢業後執教於家鄉 之國民小學校,有感所學不足,再進入台灣師範大學美術系深造,畢業後從事美術教育工作,執教於中壢 高中,培養繪畫興趣之學生無數。而本身積極參加省展、省教員美展獲獎受肯定。但仍想更上一層樓,考 取公費補助前往日本留學,取得博士學位,返國後受聘台東師專、台北師專教授美術課程,培養國小美術 師資。因緣際會受聘台北市立師範學院美勞教育系教授,期間擔任過總務長,極力改善學校環境藝術化, 在擔任學務長期間,倡導以藝術美化學生心靈。吳教授將美學原理以技巧運用於學校行政,校園一團和氣。 在擔任系主任時,為學術交流,主辦國際藝術教育學術研討會,頗受認同與褒獎。業餘潛心藝理鑽研與創 作,有感於在日期間寒冬飄雪的魅力,揣摩表現白皓皓之雪相,終得領悟,表現瑞雪漾成的風華,獨具特色。   此次吳教授的個展,精選86 件畫作集印成冊,並以四種大自然組曲為創作思維核心,展現個人創作的 風格。一為「雲水大自然系列」,二為「造型大自然系列」,三為「雪景大自然系列」,四為「生態大自 然系列」,譜成多彩的大自然物語,由觀眾鄉親同好自我詮釋心中之大自然物語。讓此次之文化饗宴,豐 足大家精神生活,也留下美麗的回憶。

ature is full of magic and mystery. Its countless shapes and colours form interesting endless whispers on nature’s stories which are worth being captured.

Seeing nature’s landscapes, one can sense the imposing manner of mountains and seas, the longstanding and lasting running of rivers, the tranquility of lakes and ponds, the quietness and seclusion of forests and the mystery of ores and rocks. Atmospheric phenomena are often unpredictably changeable – sun, rain, wind, cloud, thunder, lightning, rainbow, fog, frost, and snow. Sometimes, they make one joyful, such as a clear sky, a breeze, and rosy clouds. Sometime, one experiences harshness and horror under such conditions as lightning accompanied with thunder, rainstorm with strong wind, heavy snow falling, and the extreme heat of the sun. The sun, moon and stars run regularly, generating four changes of a year around — spring, summer, autumn, and winter — which increase nature’s beautiful and abundant stories. For these reasons, with painters’ pen brush, luster can be brilliantly created; with musicians’ sensitivity, heavenly music can be beautifully composed; and with sculptors’ hands, imitating nature, objects as delicate or rough styles can be naturally shaped. Whatever forms are made, because of nature’s great spirit, art about sounds, shapes, and colours can be made in a dynamic sense. Thus, one can realize the sophistication of nature’s landscapes. The world has numerous things and human affairs. While creating art, artists often try to use rich emotions, sensitive feelings, and superb wisdom to portray the subject’s characters and charms. They also adopt inspiration and impulse at the moment to create something magical from what makes them remarkably moving. Their works full of force of life can cause viewers’ visual enjoyment, wonderful resonance, and then purification of soul and mind.

rom Professor Wu’s subject matter of paintings, we can see his love for nature. He likes to walk along countryside streams, to climb high mountains, to travel around mysterious forests, and to look at mountain falls and springs. He is surprised at the elegance and variation of nature which can stimulate his creativity, making him want to express feelings after seeing sceneries. Immediately, he quickly captures his impression through his eyes on sketchbooks which he brings with him all the time. Then, he wields his brush with coloured inks, diverse materials, and changeable techniques. Finally, one painting after another with colour-ink pictorial images and artistic mood is produced. They are simply astonishing.

P

rofessor Wu was born in Longtan Township, Taoyuan County. He once said that during his childhood, he liked to do drawings and paintings. At that time, in the countryside, there were no luxurious painting tools. Therefore, small stones, tiles, and twigs became his pens while floors, walls and rocks acted as paper. He often made impromptu art and appreciated his own works. Until he studied in Arts Department of Taipei Teachers College (which is currently called National Taipei University of Education), he started his real painting career and set up a solid foundation for practice and theory in art making. After graduating from the college, he became a teacher in an elementary school of his hometown. Soon, he felt his insufficient knowledge and wanted to study further. So he entered the Department of Fine Arts, National Taiwan Normal University. After graduating, he had been engaged with fine art education to become an art teacher in National Jhongli Senior High School where he had nurtured numerous students interested in paintings. Meantime, he also positively joined Taiwan’s exhibitions and teachers’ exhibitions in which he won much praise and many prizes. However, he still wanted to go further. He tried to take an examination for a public fund offering scholarship. He passed it and then went to Japan for further studies. Some years later, he got a PhD degree and came back to Taiwan. He was then employed by Taitung Teachers College and Taipei Teachers College to teach in fine art courses. He had nurtured students who would become art teachers of elementary schools. Incidentally, he started been employed by of Art Education Department of Taipei Teachers College as a professor. During the period at this college, he also acted as Head of General Affairs. He positively improved the college into more artistic environment. Then, he worked as Dean of Student Affairs. He promoted art to beautify students’ souls and minds. He introduced of principles of aesthetics into campus and brought adoption of techniques to administrations into practice. The result is the campus was operated harmoniously. Then, working as Head of the Department, to improve academic exchange, he organized an academic conference for international art education. After that, he won recognition and praise. Without academic engagement, he has been immersed in studying laws of art and making art. Days in Japan were very special to him. Recalling the charm of chilly winter and falling snow, he often figures out how to represent white snow. Finally, having worked this out, he successfully registers the brilliance of timely snow with unique features.

his time, in Professor Wu’s solo exhibition, 86 pieces of paintings have been carefully selected and then introduced in this catalogue. The four major series of nature are brought as a creative and philosophical core to display his individual style — “Series of Cloud-and-Water Nature,” “Series of Plastic Nature,” “Series of Snow-Scene Nature,” and “Series of Ecological Nature.” These four series truly compose wonderful whispers about stories of nature, offering viewers to be able to interpret their own inner attitude towards nature. This cultural feast will enrich our spiritual life and also leave beautiful memories for us.

  藝術是美化人生締造快樂的泉源,抒發情愫追求生命的光輝與富麗, 有謂:「藝術人生的富有在於能給世間多少寶藏,而不是能在世上取得多 少財富。」藝術創作這以其高度內在自省的功夫,透過個人的生活涵養, 以大自然萬物、萬景、萬象的氣勢神韻,所編織的無窮盡的故事,讓藝術 創作者陶醉,而熱愛、虛心、窮理盡性全神投入,超越生理、心裡的拘限, 以敏感視窗,細膩思維,神馳於大自然之美,留下大自然物語的痕跡,如 雲海翻騰,水瀑譜神奇,自然造物型勢千萬情,白絮雪花片片滿天飄,大 地生態物語誦詩篇。創作者融鑄布局畫作的意境,巧奪天工,妙筆彩墨, 漾風情探奧秘,以真性格新意境,逸趣橫生,寫出胸中情意及物象驚艷。   從事藝術創作數拾寒暑,追求彩墨創作,窮研琢磨藝理,不斷的進行 創作技法的實驗,運用多元媒材,描繪大自然千奇萬變的情節,從攝取與 捨棄間,慎密思考,醞釀構思,將大自然故事完成超然具韻味的藝術創作。   有說藝術家的特色是,感情最豐富、思維最細膩、視覺最敏銳、感覺 最衝動、行事最活絡,方能走到哪畫到哪。喜歡遨遊名山勝地的我,以「讀 萬卷書,行萬里路」之精神,博覽海內外勝景。藝術家將瀏覽萬物之感, 有選擇性的化為創作的情緒,以自我個性及對描寫對象的情感融入創作, 將造物神奇的感動,創作出撼動人心,富有生命的作品,挑動觀賞者愉悅 的情緒,與創作者產生共鳴並自我詮釋,內心懷情隨之奔放抒發。   我此次由個展作品中,精選86 幅畫作集印成冊,展現三種不同特色: 一以「速寫」手法帶入創作內涵;二是運用「幾何形式」表達彩墨的特效; 三是以「大自然組曲」為創作思維核心;架構多彩的大自然物語,由此與 鄉親分享。以此文化饗宴,豐足自我精神生活,是我最大的企盼,望觀者 賞後留下美麗的回憶。

Wandering in the Arts to Express Feelings

A

rt is the source of making life aesthetic and creating happiness as well as expressing emotions and pursuing life’s brilliance and splendor. It is said that life with art is rich lies on how much treasure can be given to the world, not on how much wealth can be obtained from the world. Art-making requires much inner reflection. Through individuals’ living substances, spirit and charm of nature all beings, scenes and panoramas and boundless stories with imagination are used so that art creators feel much enchanted. They hold passion, modesty and devotion and dedicate themselves to thoroughly exploring principles of things and understanding human nature. They also rely on a visual window of sensitivity and a delicate way of thinking to surpass the limitations of body and mind. They make rapture on beauty of nature and leave a mark of whispers on nature’s stories. For example, a sea of clouds writhes and water falls marvel; nature creates objects and its plastic gestures generate abundant emotions; white snowflakes spread with wind all over sky; and whispers on nature’s stories about the earth’s ecology stirs up the reciting of poems. Art creators lay out paintings to pour in artistic conception; their superb craftsmanship excels nature; their pens with colours are wielded magically; their romantic mood is made for exploring mystery. They portray their inner expressions and gorgeous images by adopting their true characters and new artistic moods and by being full of humour.

H

aving been engaged with art making for decades, I use colour ink as a medium to study and think about laws of art by continuously making experiments on techniques. I also use some more diverse mediums to depict nature’s numerous magic changes. Carefully thinking over between taking and discarding, I brew and outline. Finally, I try to complete a story of nature and to achieve something detached and of lasting appeal as much as possible in art making.

I

t is said that artists have the richest feelings, most delicate thinking, most sensitive vision, most impulse feeling and most active conduct, so they can draw everywhere. I like to travel famous destinations, with the spirit of “read the trip” broadly views domestic and foreign famous scenery. Facing so complicated natural features and so many human things, the artist selectively converts the feeling toward things he ever seen into the mood of creation; with personality and the affection to the described objects, adding the feeling of creation, I create the moving magic works as if with life against my touching to the magic creation, provoking the viewer a pleasant mood to resonate with the creator, and the inner feeling is unrestrained to express followed by self-interpretation.

I

present here a painting album of 80 collected pieces to demonstrate three different characteristics: first, brings the “sketch” approach into creative contents; second, apply geometric forms to express the effect of ink color; third, take the nature series as the core of creative thinking to the core of nature, constructing the colorful nature story. Sharing the cultural feast with friends to enrich self-spiritual life festival is my most hope—folks’ memories can left behind after viewing.

I have been interested in art and drawing since I was a child. I still recalled that I picked up some stones or bricks nearby as templates to draw on when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I felt so encouraged by adults' complements then, which not only motivated setting my heart on pursuing studying fine arts,but also gave me confidence in drawing. The unforgettable memories are always in my heart.

From childhood to the study in primary school, my drawing skills had been praised by teachers and I had been so engrossed in drawing. Here I need to give my special thanks to my teacher in junior high school, Chao-Hung Chung, who gave me lots of encouragement and sincere advice. In 1950, I entered the Provincial Taipei Junior Teacher's College, and officially started my study in fine arts. Then I entered National Taiwan Normal University, I got so much teachers' guidance and enhanced my knowledge in fine arts. After the solid study

and training in Taiwan, I studied in Japan and this experience made my drawing techniques more advanced and mature. I dedicate my life to fine arts. I have been trying to use different materials for my drawing, applying innovative techniques, and making them more diverse. The digital technology also affects my drawing that I have been trying to blend the traditional and modern techniques in my drawing. I am always fond of nature. I like traveling and the places I have been are often drawn in the end. My belief is that the artist always can make the scenery poetic by drawing them down and the artists always can find the interests by savoring the routine life.

Today I am so delighted to have this opportunity to show what I have done so far. I deeply anticipate your feedback and your advice will be strongly appreciated.
