Professor Wilfried Vanhonacker has been appointed Head of the Department of Marketing at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology .
Professor Vanhonacker is a specialist in marketing science with a keen interest in the development and implementation of better and more efficient marketing programmes. His expertise includes analytic modelling of marketing phenomena especially the modelling and analysis of supermarket scanner data. He is currently working of a major study on single-source data for A.C. Nielsen (France).
ent with foreign corporations operating in and doing business with China since 1985 has given him additional expertise in setting up and running businesses in the PRC, and he recently completed a field study on joint venture operations in that country. He is a partner in a Hong Kong-based consulting company specializing in PRC investment strategies, and he has his own contractual joint venture in the area of market analysis and research.
Professor Vanhonacker gained a PhD in Management from Purdue University. He has taught at UCLA, Cornell University, and Columbia University, where he spent 9 years on the faculty of the Graduate School of Business. Prior to coming to Hong Kong he was Professor of Marketing at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
