Class teaching/Discussion: English/Cantonese subject to individual students

Objectives To develop the app development skills of gifted students; and

To motivate and encourage gifted students to identify opportunities for social innovation through the use of intelligent robots and to implement their ideas through development of human-robot interface.

Programme Outline* This is a one-to-one mentorship programme of using artificial intelligence. An intelligent robot will be used to nurture students’ creativity in developing apps to solve real life problems.

The mentor will meet the student participants at least 2 times every month in the following three phases:

Phase 1: Acquisition of basic knowledge and skills (8 topics in 16 meetings [a total of 16 hours in about 4 months])

Phase 2: App design, implementation and testing (regular meetings in 8 months)

Phase 3: Demonstrating the social innovation through student presentation (10 meetings in about 3 months)

* In view of the novel coronavirus epidemic, some sessions of the programme may be conducted online.
