★小結論：將數字以 a×10n來表現數字大小的格式稱為科學記號(Scientific Notation) ，其中 n 以整數來表現等級，為了表現真正的等級，a 至少要有 1，不能是 10 或超過 10，
因為比1 小就降級，滿 10 就升級。

一、設計理念：
1. 已學過指數的表示形式，本堂課主要目標為熟悉科學記號的表示，並能進行科學記號的比 較大小。
2. 語言部分因前半段指數部分已操作過以 2 為底，故改為以 10 為底時使用英文。中間科學 記號的引入，考量學生首次學習科學記號的概念，故以中文引入，直到例題再切換為英 文。
3. 本教材透過等級的方式讓學生理解科學記號的概念，例如 106為百萬的等級，108為億等 級，10－5為十萬分等級，以方便學生理解科學記號的概念並比較大小。
4. 科學記號的英文說法結合前面所學過的乘法及指數，故不另外教學，教師上課提及即可。
5. 指數為 0 或負整數對學生來說相對困難，建議使用表格先往上推，每往上一格是乘以 10，
所以顛倒過來每往下一格是除以10，先繼續把往下的值都確認好後，再請學生觀察指數的
規律，詢問學生假設底下指數部分也都要填數字的話應該要填什麼比較合理，進而導出指 數為0 或負整數的情況。
6. 第 3 點 YouTube 訂閱數的題目中，可提醒學生 K 代表 1,000，M 代表 1,000,000。
7. 以下附英文版本的位數表供教師參考，教師亦可搭配使用。

上一堂課我們曾經教過指數的表示形式，因為我們不想要把連續乘很多次寫下 來，所以我們發明了指數符號。What does 35 mean? It means 3 is multiplied by itself 5 times, so 35 is equal to 3 times 3 times 3 times 3 times 3.

Now let’s start with this table. It is similar to the table we used last time. Last time the base was 3. This time, the base is 10, but they are quite similar. We look at the middle part first. What is 10 to the power of 1? It means 10 multiplied by itself 1 time, so it is equal to 10. Then, 10 to the power of 2 is 100, 10 to the power of 3 is 1000, and so on.

觀察表格的規律，每往上一格就會乘以10。反過來，我們每往下一格會除以 10，
或是我們可以說每往下一格是乘以10 分之 1。So, the number under 10 is 1, and the next number is 1 over 10. Next one is 1 over 100, and the last one is 1 over 1000. Of course, you can keep going, but now we stop right here.

Let’s take a look at the exponent. We have already known 10 to the power of 1 is 10, 10 to the power of 2 is 100, and 10 to the power of 3 is 1000. How about the following
numbers? 我們可以觀察指數的部分，如果我們每往上一格，指數會怎麼改變？你會發 現指數是加1，所以反過來，如果每往下一格，指數部分會減 1。If we use the same way, we can say that 1 is equal to 10 to the power of 0, 1 over 10 is equal to 10 to the power of negative 1, 1 over 100 is equal to 10 to the power of negative 2, and 1 over 1000 is equal to 10 to the power of negative 3.

Next part, we have to fill in the blanks. We see question number one. What is 1000 equal to? It is 10 times 10 times 10, so it is 10 to the power of 3. Next one, what is 1000000 equal to? Again, how many 10s multiply together? 6. So the answer is 6.
五、引入語言使用建議：
第1 段 複習指數的概念，先用中文喚起學生指數的概念，再利用英文舉指數的實例，
讓學生逐步進入英語的使用。
第2 段 由於表格過去上節課已經有操作過，所以直接以全英文說明。
第3 段 為避免英文使用過多造成學生吸收困難，故概念操作上用中文，實際數字計算
使用英文。
第4 段 為避免英文使用過多造成學生吸收困難，故概念操作上用中文，實際數字計算
使用英文。
第5 段 本段落為習題練習，皆為數字操作，故直接使用全英文。
