Sam telephones his mother.

Narrator: Listen to the conversation. The conversation will be played two times.

When you hear a beep (beep), answer the question. You now have 5 seconds to read Questions 1 and 2. (5-second music) Listen to the first part of the conversation.

(telephone ringing)

[ Sam: Hi, Mum. This is Sam.

Mum: Oh, Sam! (surprised) Is everything okay?

Sam: Oh, yes, Mum. It’s lunchtime now but I forgot to tell you something this morning.

Mum: Oh, I see.

Sam: I have to do a project with my classmate, Jack, after school.

Narrator: No. 1: Sam phones his mum at about _________. (beep) (8-second pause) No. 2: After school, Sam has to ____________. (beep) (8-second pause) You now have 5 seconds to read Questions 3 and 4. (5-second music) Listen to the second part of the conversation.

Mum: Where will you do your project?

Sam: At Jack’s home. He lives near the school. We only have to walk for five minutes.

Mum: Will someone take you there?

Sam: Yes. We’ll go with Jack’s mum.

Narrator: No. 3: How does Sam go to Jack’s home? (beep) (8-second pause) No. 4: Who will take Sam to Jack’s home? (beep) (8-second pause) You now have 5 seconds to read Question 5. (5-second music) Listen to the third part of the conversation.

Mum: Okay. When will you come home for dinner?

Sam: We’ll finish the project at about 6 o’clock. Mum, can you please come and get me from Jack’s home?

Mum: Sorry, I can’t. I have to cook dinner and look after your baby sister. She’s sick. I’ll ask Dad to bring you home.

Sam: Thank you.

Narrator: No. 5: Sam’s mum can’t bring him home because she is ______________.

Sam: Please tell Dad to call before he comes.

Mum: Sure. I’ll tell Dad to call at 6 o’clock.

Sam: Thank you, Mum. ]

Narrator: No. 6: What is Jack’s phone number? (beep) (8-second pause) No. 7: What time will Dad call Sam? (beep) (8-second pause)
