在下顎的邊際運動最有關係的是解剖的結構,包括顱顏骨的型 態、肌肉的伸縮度以及韌帶的限制關係,這方面已經有很多的研究,

也有很多的指標可以參考,但是在咀嚼運動方面,除了解剖構造的研 究、運動學方面的研究外,其實咀嚼運動是基於神經傳遞回饋來操控 肌肉來操作所有的動作,因此能在神經傳遞的路徑上能有進一步的瞭 解會更有助於臨床治療上的評估。

其次,由於下顎運動的測量方式日漸進步,會影響下顎咀嚼運動 的儀器也越來越少,但是截至目前為止,仍在精確度、影響度上仍有 進步的空間;若能在影像處理、資料統整上能有更進步的方式,也是 對於瞭解人類咀嚼運動與不正咬合型態之間的關係能有所助益。

第三,目前對於咀嚼模式的評估也沒有一項非常確定的指標或標 準,因此建立咀嚼生理評估的標準化將能夠有效助於臨床醫師在進行 不正咬合的治療有更好的評估標準。

最後,咀嚼的模式約是在兒童時期即養成,但是對於各種的不正 咬合是否在改正之後就會改變了咀嚼的模式仍有許多的疑問存在,因 此瞭解各類不正咬合對咀嚼模式所造成的影響以及是否是在兒童時 期就進行早期治療的評估是未來一項重要的課題。
