本研究使用PVA來做為細胞固定化的載體,在實驗過程中不管是菌體的保護 或是細胞的生長狀況都極為良好。而且固定化顆粒內的細胞可以無數次的生長,

無頇再重新的植種,而PVA材質具有高彈性強度使圓形顆粒結構不輕易被破壞;

高孔細率使得細胞代謝能快速的排出,也可以明顯的觀察到氣體的生瓹。

然而在丁酸轉換率上,傳統上使用葡萄糖到丁酸的理論轉換率為 0.5 gg-1。 而研究中最高也都有達到 0.49gg-1逼近理論轉換率;但是葡萄糖到乳酸的轉換率 為 100%基本上是零流失的。而研究中使用 C. tyrobutyricum 在乳酸的轉換利用上 可達到 0.85gg-1的糖轉換率,比起從葡萄糖直接到丁酸的轉換率提升了 60%,是 一個突破性的發現。轉換率的提升使得基質能被更有效的利用、轉換。研究中建 議在填充床上若能使之溫度不散失,使菌體在最佳溫度下代謝預期會得到比 7.67gh-1L-1更良好的瓹率。
