HKUST LIBRARY TO HOLD EXHIBITION OF RECENT PAINTINGS BY LAM WU-FUI
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Library
will be presenting an exhibition, “Recent Paintings by Lam Wu-Fui”, in the University Library Gallery from 1 February to 31 March 1994.
Lam Wu-Fui was born in Jieyang County, Guangdong Province. After he graduated from an arts institute in China, he studied landscape painting under Liang Boyu and then became a student of Zhao Shaoang. Lam specializes in a wide range of flower, bird, insect, fish and animal painting. His works are noted for their freshness, poetic flavour and originality.
Since 1978, he has held one-man exhibitions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, England, Germany, the U.S.A., and Australia. Some of his works have been collected by the national museums of these countries.
During 1991 and 1992, he was twice awarded Anniversary prizes of the American Ink and Wash Painting Association, as well as the Baltimore-Atlantic Prize, and the New Jersey Audio-Visual Centre Prize. He was also shortlisted for the California Museum Exhibition and the Alexander Museum Exhibition in Louisiana. He has published “Drawing Goldfish and Golden Carps”, “Drawing Sea Fish and Tropical Fish” and “Paintings By Lam Wu-Fui”.
