第一节 书面表达 (满 25 分)参考答案
Dear Jack,
Pleased to interpret for you the Chinese poem lines printed on the donations against COVID-19 from Japan.
The poem lines, written by a famous poet Wang Changling in the Tang Dynasty , can be translated into " Mountains apart share rains and clouds, with moonlight above shining home and abroad." which conveys Japanese sincere support for fighting the epidemic. Yes, viruses have no nationality and we humans have a shared destiny. What we need is not discrimination but help from each other to address the disaster. This should be a common understanding for us who share the same planet, no matter what and where we are. The poem lines are a real encouragement for us and we believe we'll win the battle.
Hopefully, you can understand and appreciate the heartwarming poem. Wish you all the best.
Yours,
Li Hua

Text 1
W: Did you go anywhere during the winter holiday?
M: Yes. I went back to my hometown with my father. I was brought up there and didn’t leave until I
was six. But it has changed a lot. There were many new houses everywhere, and I could hardly tell where anything was after twenty years. (1)
Text 2
M: This concert is fantastic. I’m so glad that you bought us tickets. What a nice surprise!
W: I know they’re your favorite band, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy tickets when I
saw they were coming to town. (2) Text 3
W: On the way home from my business trip, I’ll be in Paris for twenty-four hours. Do you have any suggestions about what I should do?
M: Oh, that’s so little time! Well, since it’s all you have, you should rent a bike. Then you can explore
many different neighborhoods in one day. (3) Text 4
W: Turn left at the next street, and don’t forget to make a complete stop at the stop sign. M: What happens if I don’t make a complete stop?
W: You’ll fail your driving test. Don’t worry. We have enough time to practice before the big
day. (4) Text 5
W: This book is a bargain. I got it for half price. M: Really? You mean you only paid $4.50 for it? (5)
Text 6 (第7题为推断题)
M: Look, Jenny. I don’t understand what’s going on. You said your sister was arriving at 7:30, and it’s
8:30 now. (6)
W: I am so sorry, Mike. I don’t understand, either. Here’s Helen’s telegram. Take a look at it.
M: Arriving in Hetton Tuesday 7:30 p.m. (6) Jenny, where is she coming from? What airline is she traveling on? What’s the flight number?
W: I don’t know. The telegram is the only information I have. The last time we heard from her, she was in Wallence.
M: Then let’s check the flights from Wallence. I think that’s the best thing to do.
Text 7
M: Do you know how old this tree is? It’s over 2000 years old. Most redwood trees live to be around
500 to 700 years old, but this one has been around a very long time. (8)
W: That’s incredible.
M: Imagine how much this tree has seen in its lifetime! (8) From all of the different kinds of animals that have made it their home, to everything that’s changed down here on the forest floor. W: How tall do you think it is?
M: I’d guess it’s anywhere from 200 to 300 feet.
W: Why do redwoods grow so tall, and for so long? (9)
M: Well, they’re in a part of the country that gets a lot of rain, and the climate is not too hot or too
cold. (9) They also have a natural material in their wood, which makes it easier for them to keep out
insects.
Text 8
M: That’s all the time we have for today’s class. Don’t forget to put away your science books. Does
anyone have any more questions? Yes, Sara? (10)
W: I know we talked a lot about mosquitoes today and the different types of diseases they can carry. My question is: what makes their bites itch so much?
M: That’s a very good question. When a mosquito bites, it also shoots some of its own spit into you. It contains a chemical that keeps your blood from thickening. That way, it can get its mouth out from your skin before it gets stuck. Your body then sends a different chemical out to stop the mosquito’s chemical, and that’s what itches.
W: So, the itching comes from us and not the mosquito?
M: Yep. Another interesting fact is that only female mosquitoes bite because they need the nutrition
from your blood to produce eggs. (11)
W: That’s awful.
M: Science isn’t always pretty. (12)
Text 9
M: It’s such a joy to get to interview you today. How long did it take you to write your new book Michael’s Sunshine?
W: Thank you for having me. It took me five years to write Michael’s Sunshine. (13) Midnight, the
first book I wrote, only took me a year. (14) I don’t know how I wrote it so fast! With Michael’s
Sunshine, I wanted to take my time.
M: Your writing mainly deals with the topic of forgiveness, and many reviews of your books have touched on that as well. Is that something that you were aware of?
W: Yes, definitely. I have always been interested in how and why people forgive each other, and I wanted to write about that.
M: Do you have anything new you’re working on? (15)
W: I do! I’m actually almost done with my third book. It’s called The Snow Tree. I don’t want to give
too much away about the story, though. (16)
M: OK, I won’t ask you any questions about it. Did you always know you wanted to be a writer? W: No. I thought I wanted to make movies, but then I decided I liked writing better, so here I am.

The Samsung Family Hub refrigerator is a touchscreen refrigerator that comes with eighteen different apps and Wi-Fi. The refrigerator takes photos of what’s inside every time the door is shut, (17) so users always know how much food is left and what needs to be purchased at the store. Users can access the fridge’s camera from a smartphone and use the Groceries by MasterCard app to order groceries online. There’s also a note app that places small images on each item in order to keep track of the days that are left until the item goes bad. The screen on the refrigerator door can be used to display family pictures and messages, which can be downloaded from a computer or smartphone. Users can listen to music and
watch videos, as well as access the news, weather, and even traffic information. (18) The refrigerator also comes with technology to track eating habits for those who want to make healthier choices. (19)
Although the fridge can work for single users, it’s mainly made for large families to keep track of their day-to-day lives. (20)
