Forums on “Learnino for the Future” at Science Museum
Two public forums focusing on job prospects for graduates with higher degrees and postgraduate study opportunities in the territory will be held at the Hong Kong Science Museum this coming Saturday and Sunday.
The forums are part of “Learning For The Future”, a symposium and exhibition on postgraduate studies in Hong Kong, .being held at the Science Museum, 24-26 May. The event is jointly presented by six tertiary institutions which are members of the University and Polytechnic Grants Council (UPGC).
The first forum, entitled “Job Opportunities for Graduates with High Degrees”; will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, 24 May. Moderated by Mr Eddie Ng, Compensation and Benefit Director of Citibank, N.A., the Forum features three speakers from the private sector: Mr Peter Barrett, Chairman of Odgers 81 Co. (Far East) Ltd.; Mr James R. Clark, Relations Manager of Mobile Oil Hong Kong Ltd.; and Mr Wai Leung Emil Jeong, Director of MOS Design, Motorola Semiconductor Ltd. In addition, Dr W.K.R. Wong, Lecturer of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technolqgy, who himself worked in the private sector for several years before joining HKUST, will be on the panel.
The second forum, to be held from 1 to .3 pm on Sunday, 26 May, is entitled
“Postgraduate Study Opportunities in Hong Kong”. Staff members from the six
institutions participating in the Symposium and Exhibition will speak at the Forum: Prof. Benjamin K.Y. T’sou, Associate Director in Research and Development of City Polytechnic of Hong Kong; Prof. J.W. Barrett, Academic Vice-President of Hong Kong Baptist College; Prof. Joshua Wong, Acting Associate Director in Research and Development of Hong Kong Polytechnic; Prof. S.W. Tam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Graduate School of the Chinese University. of Hong Kong; Prof. Chih-yung Chien, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and Prof. B. Weatherhead, Professor of Anatomy of the University of Hong Kong. The moderator of the Forum will be Mr James T.V. Fok, Branch Director of the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
