Summary Total of 78 superior clones was selected for preliminary yield trial. 17 clones were selected for next yield trial. In the first-year trial, there were 5 clones gained better yield than “Taoyuan 3” and “Taoyuan 1” there were 6 clones gained better yield than “Tainung 66”. In the second-year yield trial, there were 2 clones gained better yield than the check varieties “Taoyuan 3”, there were 4 clones gained better yield than the check varieties “Taoyuan 1” and “Tainung 66” in Taoyuan DAIS, respectively.. Summary The purpose of this breeding program were to develop new sweet potato varieties with high yield and good quality for table-use and processing-use, we adopted artificial cross and polycross to select new lines, the result are summarized as follow: a total of 4,213hybrids seeds were obtained from polycross and artificial cross during Oct. 2007 to Feb..2008through seedling selection, 40 clones for spring planting and 160 clones for fall planting were selected from 10,000 and 80,000 hybrid seedling respectively. Among the entries in primary yield trials, 10clones and 14 clones were selected for the spring and fall planting, those lines are all superior to the check variety in root yield potential as well as taste and agronomic characters. Among the entries in advanced yield trial,4 clones for the spring planting and 6 clones for the fall planting were selected for high fresh root yield potential and good quality, four newly developed clones of regional yield trial were conducted in this fiscal year, In the fall planting of 2,008 CYY92-11 were higher average fresh root yield at four locations than other tested clones.. Summary Storage decresed the fresh weight of sweet potato,the degree of weight loss depended on the variety. Carbonhydrate is major content in sweet potato. Stroing fresh sweet potato decreased the dry weight ratio and increased total soluble sugar content after it baked. Fresh sweet potato consumed it sucrose during the storage may be the reason of decreasing dry weight ratio. The maltose content increased may be the reason of increasing the total soluble sugar content after it baked.
