The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) will display its latest technological achievements at the third annual China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) to be opened in Shenzhen tomorrow (12 October). The Fair will be run until 17 October.
This is the third consecutive year HKUST is participating in the Fair. CHTF is the largest international technology fair on the Chinese Mainland, and is held annually in autumn in Shenzhen. In each of the past two years, the event attracted more than 300,000 visitors, with US$8.53 billion in business agreements closed last year.
The centerpiece of HKUST's exhibits will be the University's successes in translating research achievements into commercial products. Six hi-tech start-ups under the University's Entrepreneurship Program will showcase their products to visitors and potential investors. These include a new technology for testing radiation and providing solutions for wireless communications products, a 3D rapid garment fitting system, various motion control systems, an online education platform and the first B2B portal that specifically targets the cotton trading industry in Asia.
In addition to hi-tech products, HKUST will also exhibit its innovations in developing smart nanomaterials, a silicon microdisplay projector, a high-accuracy and high-speed force control platform as well as achievements in other forefront areas of scientific and technological research.
CHTF is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information Industry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. Top mainland universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University are among the participants. Other exhibitors include trade delegations, private enterprises, investors and research institutes.
