When boy is chosen as captain, the number of boys among the other members is equal to the number of girls. As we already know that in this situation, the number of girls among the other members is one half the number of boys, so the number of girls among the other members is 2. Thus the number of boys is 2 2× =4.

Assume there are x boys. Then there are x−1 girls. From the given conditions,
