HKUST Graduates Swiftly Absorbed into the Business World
A recent survey reveals that about 98% of the job seekers among the first class of BBA/BSc graduates from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology’s School of Business & Management (SBM) have successfully been recruited.
Among the 145 job seekers, 142 or 98% have been employed full time, of which 95 or 70% are working in major firms. According to the respondents, more than 95% are satisfied with their present jobs.
These figures were revealed through a comprehensive survey completed in late September by the University’s SBM Undergraduate Programmes Office.
The survey successfully tracked down 150 of the 164 BBA/BSc graduates. Of the 150, five are pursuing higher degrees and 145 joined the labour force. The rest are believed to have either moved or emigrated.
“The employment situation of our first class of BBA/BSc graduates is very encouraging considering that we are a very young university. In the years ahead, however, we will step up our effort to widen connections with the business world so as to further enhance the employment prospect of our students,” noted Dr Joseph Lin, Director of Undergraduate Programmes of the SBM.
The School has six departments: Accounting, Information & Systems Management, Economics, Finance, Management of Organisations and Marketing. At present, about 1,800 undergraduates are pursuing BBA/BSc in the School.
