I will remember this Sports Day for a very long time. Why? I ended up going to hospital! I ran in three races and came first in all of them. However, just after finishing the third race, I fell down and hurt my ankle. I had to go to hospital and spent four hours there. Fortunately, the injury was not serious. I am fine now.
David Chan (Class 6B)
I am very angry with myself! I love running, so I entered the 100-metre race. However, I was too excited. Just before the teacher gave the signal to start, I began to run. I did this two times and so I was not allowed to take part in the race any more. I must learn to stay calm next time.
Sally Wong (Class 6D)
I was a helper on Sports Day. I helped organise the races.
Before the races, I had to make sure that the runners were standing behind the starting line. Also, I had to give water to the runners during the race. I was glad to help on Sports Day and I want to help again.

David is reading a letter.
Read the first part of the letter. Answer Questions 1 – 5.
Dear David,
It’s Mary here. How’s life in Hong Kong? We haven’t seen each other for almost a year. My family and I had a happy, healthy year in 2012. We really like our life in Canada.
Dad and Mum enjoy their leisure time here. Dad is still very busy with his cycling club. He sometimes takes photos at special events, like at my friend’s birthday party last week. Mum has joined the Chinese Painting Society. She goes to workshops as well as evening classes. She likes to keep fit, too. She does aqua aerobics with her friends. They look like they are dancing together in the water. As for me, I’m always occupied with my studies. I’m also busy preparing for my piano exam.
Looking back over the year, we did a lot of things as a family. During Chinese New Year, we had a visit from my sister Diana and her two children.
Dad and Mum enjoyed being with their grandsons. They took them to many places that little kids like. At Easter, we spent a few days at Lake Louise.
The weather was warm and we had a great time.

My parents and I travelled to Beijing during the summer holidays. We took the cable car to the Great Wall. It was very exciting. We were also pleased to see how modern Beijing is. It was amazing to see the Bird’s Nest Stadium and the Water Cube. I loved the Great Wall but the eye-catching Olympic architecture was unforgettable too!
Two weeks ago on Christmas Day, the whole family had dinner at home. It was the first time we had ever had a turkey for Christmas. I heard the turkey sizzling when Mum opened the oven door. We enjoyed the food and loved being together for this festival.
Give my regards to your mum and dad and send me some photos of your trip to Singapore.
Love from your cousin,
