Course Objectives (課程目標):

1. Aim to build up the broad and deep ICT knowledge and skills for solving the issues in planning, designing, and developing business information systems under the current age of electronic business and digital economic society..

2. Learn how to apply and leverage cutting-edge information and communication technologies, and modern system development methodologies to develop and reengineer enterprise information systems.

3. Build up the profound capacity for developing a secured, integrated , and scalable information system architecture and information infrastructure in developing business information systems.

4. Learn how to model and implement enterprise decision models and integrated data models including enterprise databases and data warehouse to support the development of business intelligence and information systems.

5. Learn how to measure and evaluate the business values and performance resulted from the IS/IT implementation.

Recommended Prerequisites (先修課程):

Information Management (資訊管理) would be recommended but it is not required.

Pedagogical Methods – Highlights (教學方法重點)

This will include 講授(Lecture), 個案教學(Case Study) 對話教學法(Dialogue Teaching), 企業 IS/IT 個案研究與討論 (Business IS/IT Case Study and Discussion), and 問題導向學習 (Problem Base Learning).

English is the major language for lecture and discussion during the class, but The mixture of Chinese may be used when the contents are uneasy to thoroughly explain to ensure the contents can be sufficiently understood.

The 3-hour class for each week will composed of three parts, including teacher’s lecture, class interaction and discussion, and business case study and presentation. Most of the materials for these three parts are selected from the major textbook for this course, that is [TLMW 2008, 6e].

- Teacher’s lecture will only cover the most significant part selected from each chapter.

- Class interaction and discussion will be selected from the Questions for Discussions given in the end of each chapter.

- Business cases for studying and presentation are selected from the Minicases given in the end of each chapter as well. The part is mainly conducted by students. The student is responsible for studying, conducting the presentation, and leading the discussion for each business case assigned.

One to two business cases may be assigned for one student during the entire semester.

By this method, our students can learn this course under the atmosphere of relax with pleasure, open mouth to speak English, at the meantime to achieve the learning objective set for this course.
