三、課程目標

隨著人類對環境利用的增加,自然環境中之生物多樣性出現了 前所未有的消失速率。面臨這樣的環境變遷,瞭解生物多樣性其 生態及經濟價值,並正視目前物種滅絕、棲地破壞、及全球氣候 變遷等問題對生物多樣性所帶來的衝擊是刻不容緩的。保育生物 學不僅是在討論當前世界所面臨的環境保育問題,更提供了許 多的實際應用之解決方法與策略。希望藉此人類能達到對自然環 境的永續利用,而有興趣的同學能因此課程加入保育生物學的 研究行列。

Due to the overexploitation of environments through human activities, we are losing our biodiversity in a rate much higher than any time in the earth history. To face these problems, it is essential to understand the value of biodiversity and the results of organism extinction, habitat destruction and global climate change. This lecture will also discuss the conservation at the population and species levels, practical applications and the sustainable development at the local and national levels. Hoping that through this lecture, students, who may concern this field, will join the research work in the conservation biology.

I. 保育生物學的定義:什麼是保育生物學、什麼是生物多樣性 及 生物多樣性的現況 II. 評估生物多樣性的價值:直接及間接的 經濟價值、道德價值 III. 生物多樣性所面臨的威脅:物種滅絕或 瀕臨滅絕、棲地的破壞及破碎化、地球暖化、土地過度利用、外來 種的入侵及疾病問題 IV. 族群及物種層次的保育:小族群所面 臨的問題、應用族群生物學、建立新的族群及保育策略 V. 實際應 用:建立保護區、設計保護區的網路、管理保護區、保護區以外的 地區及復育生態學 VI. 保育與人類社會:地方性及國家性的保 育及永續發展、國際策略及對未來的展望
