2.2 Framework of Statistical Indicator System for Moderate Economic Diversification of Macao

The statistical indicator system for moderate economic diversification of Macao is divided into eight parts, containing principal statistical indicators on the respective aspects, to facilitate analysis of economic diversification of Macao from multiple perspectives.

Parte 1: Overview of the Industrial Structure

This part includes statistical indicators on production-based gross domestic product, industrial structure and the entropy index of economic diversity that measures the degree of diversification of economic activities, to reflect, at a macro-level, the total value of goods and services produced by different industries in Macao in the accounting period, the relative importance of the industries to the economy and the degree of diversification of the industrial structure.

Part 3: Diversification of Activities of Concessionaires Engaging in Games of Chance

This part provides statistical indicators, including (1) receipts from gaming and non-gaming activities of concessionaires engaging in games of chance and their relative importance; (2) receipts from gaming and non-gaming activities of concessionaires engaging in games of chance and their relative importance, after being adjusted for retail prices of services that were provided to customers at discounted prices or for free, to reflect the degree of diversification of the activities of the gaming concessionaires and their group; and (3) floor area occupied for gaming and non-gaming activities in the facilities of the gaming concessionaries, as well as number and receipts of establishments operated by non-gaming enterprises in the facilities of gaming concessionaires. The above information reflects the receipts from all non-gaming activities in the facilities of gaming concessionaires, which helps to assess the contribution of non-gaming activities that are directly driven by the gaming concessionaires.

Part 6: Diversification of Emerging Industries

This part presents statistical indicators that measure the development of the emerging industries in Macao, including number of establishments, number of employed persons, receipts and business overview. In addition to the three emerging industries, namely MICE sector, cultural industries and Chinese medicine sector, covered in the 2015 report, the 2016 report also includes statistics on featured financial business provided by AMCM.
