Jim and I fought with each other over the mess in the living room again. I __26__ and found it difficult to communicate with him. I felt ___27____angrier when he asked me to “stop nagging.” He told me he had been under a lot of stress and wanted to be alone. According to them, men's and women's brains work in very different ways. When men are stressed, they only want to relax instead of talking about their problems. I found this amazing. It is important for women to share their feelings when they are in bad moods. With the information ___29___, I became more interested and made up my mind to know more about the differences between men and women. Dr. Amen’s “brain scans” showed that women are more likely to be affected by emotions than men. On the other hand, men’s brains are less active. When they watch TV, they constantly surf channels in order to find more excitement and stimulation. After knowing all this, it ___30___ me that I shouldn’t be too hard on Jim. Night after night, Mom came to tuck me in, even long after my childhood years. As part of her nightly routine, she would lean down, push my long hair out of the way, and then kiss me on the forehead.

I don’t remember when it started ___54___me—her hands touching my face that way. However, it did annoy me, for they felt rough against my young skin. One night, I finally shouted, “Don’t do that anymore—your hands are too rough!” Upon hearing this, Mom stepped out of my room without saying a word. I lay ___55____ a whole night. However, pride

suppressed the voice of my___56____, and I didn’t tell her I was sorry. From that day forward, Mom would never again close out my day with that familiar expression of her love.

With the passing years, my thoughts have time after time returned to that night. I realized one thing: If I had been ___57____enough, I would not have said such a mean thing to my mom. I missed Mom’s hands and her good-night kiss. Sometimes, the incident seemed very close and sometimes far away, and yet it was always there—in the back of my mind.

Years have passed, and I am no longer a young girl. Mom is in her mid-seventies, and those hands I once thought to be too rough are still taking care of me and my family. They have reached into medicine cabinets for a remedy to calm a girl’s ___58_____stomach or __59___ the pain of a boy’s scraped knee. These very same hands have also cooked the best fried chicken in the world, gotten stains out of my jeans, and dished out ice cream on hot summer days.

In Asia, getting your high school diploma means one thing—it’s time to head straight to

university or into employment. However, in many western countries, particularly the UK, students spend a year between high school and university on a journey of discovery known as a gap year. There are many options for things to do during a gap year, from simply jetting off to paradise to do a bit of traveling or things that might be a bit more constructive. Let's take a look

at the choices available.

Some students choose not to interrupt their studies entirely during of a gap year. Rather, they take it as a time to get ambitious about some of their true passions while traveling at the same time. For example, students take a gap year as an opportunity to do a combination of traveling and studying the language of the place they are traveling to. There's no better way to gain fluency in foreign language than by fully immersing yourself in it.

Other students take part in something known as voluntourism," a mix of traveling and doing volunteer work. For instance, a student might travel to South Africa to work in an orphanage while visiting wild zoos and deserts. Still others treat a gap year wild as a working holiday. They work for a while, perhaps on an organic farm in Australia, and then move on to the next destination. It's a great chance to get some practical work experience and travel at the same time.

Basically, a gap year is what you make of it. Before you head off to your local travel agency to book your tickets, think seriously about what you want to get out of your gap year. It's a rare chance to grow as a person, travel the world, and gain unforgettable and invaluable experience. If this all sounds good, taking a gap year might be just what you need.

Every day, millions of people click on Facebook to see what is happening amongst their friends around the world. Most of us may never have considered that this powerful social media could be used to help improve lives. Every day, organ transplants are performed, yet people waiting for organ transplants also die every day. Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook, wanted to help take down barriers. He believes that there are many people sitting on the fence thinking about whether or not to be a donor. With a little encouragement, they might make the decision that could rescue someone's life.

Donate Life America has launched a partnership with Facebook in hopes of changing the situation. Facebook users can go to their timeline where they can find a health and wellness section listed under Life Event. Users then have the liberty of typing in if they have decided to become a donor. They can even add a short story telling others why they decided to become a donor.

Sharing these decisions on Facebook increases the likelihood that friends and family will make the decision to be an organ donor as well. Although the Facebook pledge isn't an official agreement making you a donor, there are website links where you can make the pledge official. In addition, many patients who need organ donors are now using Facebook to get the word out. Dr. Andrew Cameron worked with Facebook to develop an app called "Donor." It teaches patients how to make a Facebook post that describes their disease and the experience of waiting for a donor. Users do not need to exclude anything from the post.

So far, many people have stories of getting around obstacles and finding donors through Facebook. Although Facebook doesn't get involved in promoting social agendas, it does see this as an opportunity for optimism and to help others.

(A) Stand on top of the fence so you can get a better view.

(B) Do not decide about what you want to do yet.

(C) Get a better perspective so you can see further away. (D) Make an important decision.

65. Which of the following statements is TRUE?

(A) Marking that you decided to be a donor on Facebook is an official agreement. (B) One cannot be a donor if he doesn't have Facebook.

(C) There are many people waiting for organ transplants.
