Rita Fan to Open Symposium on
Global Manufacturing at HKUST
Mrs Rita Fan, President of the Provisional Legislative Council, will address the opening ceremony of the CIRP International Symposium at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on Thursday 21 August 1997.The theme of the symposium is "Advanced Design and Manufacture in the Global Manufacturing Era". The symposium will enable local academics and industrialists to review the latest international
advances in design and manufacturing techniques and technologies. CIRP--College International pour l'Etude Scientifique de Techniques de Production Mecanique--is one of the leading international
institutions for production engineering research.
This is the first CIRP-sponsored event to be held in Hong Kong, and has been jointly organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong and the Vocational Training Council: Hong Kong Technical Colleges.
