Findings on research utilization indicate that the gap between policy and academic communities might hinder the production of good public policies. It also reduces the contribution academic communities can make towards public lives. Think Tank pro-vides a viable institutional or organizational solution for closing the gap. In this paper, the development, types, roles ofThink Tanks and their strategies for influencing public policies are synthesized and discussed. Current conditions of Think Tank in Taiwan are also examined. Suggestions about strengthening the role of Think Tank in educa-tional policy making are also discussed.
