Sportswear company Nike has announced plans to release its Pro Hijab. The hijab is a traditional head scarf worn by many Muslim women. Nike’s design is both light and made of a material that can breathe. Therefore, it allows Muslim women to compete to the best of their abilities while following their religious rules. The Pro Hijab will be released in early 2018.

Muslim athletes have competed in hijabs for years. One of the first to do so was Ruqaya al-Ghasra, a runner from Bahrain. She wore one during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. However, cloth hijabs are heavy and easily get wet with sweat. Muslim athletes have been looking for a more hijab for some time. Nike involved many of them in the design process, including skater Zahra Lari and weightlifter Amna Al Haddad.

As well as being light, the Pro Hijab is also long. This means it can be tucked into clothes and won't come loose. It can also be made looser or tighter depending on the athlete’s needs. Nike hopes that its Pro Hijab will encourage more young Muslim women to get into sports.

50. What is NOT true about Nike’s Pro Hijab?

(A) It can be made looser if necessary. (B) It is made of heavy, dark cloth.

(C) Part of it goes inside an athlete’s clothes. (D) It doesn’t easily get wet with sweat. 51. What do we learn about Ruqaya al-Ghasra?

(A) She was the designer of the Pro Hijab. (B) She got in trouble for not wearing a hijab. (C) She wore a hijab when running years ago. (D) She is an Olympic-level weightlifter. 52. Which of the following sentences is TRUE?

(A) Several athletes helped design the Pro Hijab. (B) Zahra Lari is an Olympic runner from Bahrain. (C) Amna Al Haddad won a gold medal in 2004. (D) Nike released the Pro Hijab earlier this year.

With memorable characters such as Cinderella, Belle, Elsa, and Jasmine, Disney has pretty much concerned the market on princesses. One thing that fans — most of them impressionable young girls — have likely missed is that the heroines are connected by one color they wear, specifically blue. Disney princesses are all fond of wearing blue outfits, a fact that Disney designer Christopher Kane has talked about to Elle magazine. "When you think of every Disney heroine — Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine — they're all wearing blue! It's a thing. 'Disney Blue," Kane said.

But why blue? The answer, according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, an American-based corporation that calls itself the "global authority on color," is because of the associations blue has with the power and calmness of nature. "It's something to look forward to, to see that blue sky," Eiseman said. "It's dependable’. It's reliable. It might cloud up, but we know it's there." In addition to the positive connotations the color blue possesses, it is also a hue that is more associated with boys than girls. For that reason, Eiseman said, when female characters are dressed in that more masculine color, they take on a sense of power they might not otherwise have. The effect may be subtle, but it does have an impact, she added. An air of respectability may also come from the fact that blue is a practical color, the color of workwear, according to Jacqueline Durran, who designed costumes for Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson. So, now that we are aware of "Disney Blue," we can add color choice to the techniques that the huge entertainment company employs to bring its wildly popular animated fairy tales to life.

53. Which best describes “Disney Blue?”

(A) Disney Princesses often wear the color blue.

(B) Disney uses the same color of blue for each princess.

(C) Disney has created a new type of dark blue. (D) All Disney characters are associated with blue. 54. What is the Pantone Color Institute?

(A) A company that gives color advice to Disney. (B) An institution that designs costumes for movies. (C) A company that is an authority on the use of colors. (D) A school where designers learn about making movies.

55. What is NOT mentioned about the associations of the color blue? (A) It has a sense of strength. (B) It is a sad color.

(C) It is a peaceful color. (D) It is more connected with boys than girls. 56. What point does Durran make about blue?

(A) Blue is the color of the sea and sky. (B) Not many people know about "Disney Blue.” (C) Emma Watson enjoys wearing blue. (D) Blue is a normal color of work clothing.

Ratatouille is a movie about someone being uncomfortable in their own skin. Someone feeling like the world they were born into isn’t the right one for them and they don’t know what to do. So is the case with our lead character, Remy the rat. He’s a rat and yet all he wants to do is be a chef. He gets his wish when he meets Linguini, a bumbling garbage boy in the world-famous French restaurant “Gusteau’s”. Together, they become the person (and rat) they truly want to be.

When the fearsome restaurant critic Anton Ego finally learns the truth, he reflects on the role of a critic, and realizes that the world is often unkind to new talent and new creations. It’s easy to be mean to people who create something new and different, but it is much more rewarding to offer support and encourage the creators. In the end, Anton Ego decides to invest in a small restaurant with Remy as the chef. The movie ends beautifully as we see each of the main character surrounded by friends and customers, feeling comfortable in their own skin. It is a true masterpiece of storytelling.

As Vicky Lo Yuet-shan, 17, glides her fingers elegantly across the strings of the guzheng, an ancient Chinese instrument with a 2,500-year history, the wistful, plucked notes conjure images of a performance in an imperial palace of eras past.

But nothing could be further from reality – Vicky practices in a Hong Kong subdivided flat for three, where there is barely enough space for her instrument. She wants to prove that music is not an indulgence available only for the elite. Vicky is one of 234,000 children living below the poverty line in Hong Kong, as the child poverty rate grew 1 percentage point to 23.1 per cent in 2017. These children could face disadvantages in their education, because top schools tend to favor students with musical talent in the admission process. Those from poor families often can’t pay for music lessons, so the children aren’t able to develop that talent.

Although money is hard to come by, Vicky’s parents supported her music dreams – she was introduced to the guzheng at age nine. Lessons cost about

HK$800 a month, and the family saved what money they could to develop her potential. They hope her skills would help her get a place in a reputable secondary school. She was lucky to receive additional support from the Society for Community Organization (SoCO) for seven years, totaling HK$70,000.

Now Vicky is using her talent to give back. She will perform solo at the charity’s first concert, which is being held to raise funds so that poor children can learn music. SoCO has spent about HK$3 million for the cause supporting some 400 children since 2011.

Vicky hopes to one day speak up for poor children whose voices go unheard. “In Hong Kong, children of poor families find it difficult to compete with their peers from well-off households,” she said. “I hope that this concert will encourage poor children to study harder, knowing that there are people supporting them.”
