HKUST Now Acceptinq Applications
for Admission in the 1991-92 Academic Year
From September 3, applications forms for admission to the inaugural first year class of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will be available. Ten undergraduate courses in the three Schools of Science, Engineering and Business & Management will be accepting applications. These are: Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics (for BSc courses in the School of Science); Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (for BEng degree in School of Engineering); and Accounting (BBA) and Economics (BBA or BSc) in the School of Business and Management.
Details of the courses, entrance requirements, and application procedures are described in the University's 1991-92 Undergraduate Prospectus. The Prospectus, application forms and further information may be obtained by phone from the University Admissions Office (302-1500), or in person from the Admissions Office at 5/F, World Shipping Centre, 7 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Admission forms will also be available at District Offices of the City and New Territories Administration (CNTA).
A non-refundable application fee of HK $100 must be included with each application. The closing date for applications is November
30, 1990. Approximately 560 students will be admitted for the inaugural class beginning in October 1991.
As the third publicly-funded university in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was incorporated in 1988. It is to be a world-class technological university, with the specific regional objectives of promoting both economic and
social development in Hong Kong, and research, development and ,_-=- entrepreneurship in Asia-Pacific. The University will comprise
four Schools, together with a number of interdisciplinary Research Institutesand a Technology Transfer Centre.
It is currently being built on the Clear Water Bay Peninsula, for an overall student body of 10,000 by 1995-96.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
