HKUST HOSTS CONFERENCE TO PROMOTE MANAGEMENT SCIENCE IN CHINA
An international conference on Management Science and the Economic Development of China will be held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 16 to 19 July, hosted by HKUST and Tsinghua University in Beijing. The aim of the conference is to promote the development and application of management science in this region.
The integration of academic research with real-world applications is a major theme of the conference. World-renowned management specialists will share their own practical experience in several tutorial sessions. “We expect this kind of integration to shorten the distance between academics and practitioners as well as improve the productivity and competitiveness of the industries in this region,” says Dr Shu-Ming Ng, chairman of the conference and Associate Professor of Information and Systems Management at HKUST.
Keynote speeches will be given by Prof David Yao of Columbia University, Prof Chenglie Pan of the Chinese Association of Enterprise Management and successful entrepreneur Tiechui Li, who will recount his own experiences in industry in China.
The conference organizing committee received more than 250 paper submissions from all over the world. “We are happy to see this conference draw such international attention,” says Dr Ng. “This shows the importance to the world of economic development in this region.”
