VISITOR ARRIVALS In light of the Summer holidays, number of visitor arrivals reached 2,381,752 in August 2007, representing a year-on-year increase of 23.9%. Visitors from Mainland China and Hong Kong registered growth of 32.1% and 13.4% respectively, whereas those from Taiwan, China dropped by 9.4%. Meanwhile, same-day visitors accounted for 51.3% of the total arrivals, at 1,222,406.

Among the Mainland visitors, 48.2% travelled to Macao under the Individual Visit Scheme, at 648,987.

In the first eight months of 2007, visitor arrivals totalled 17,230,083, up by 21.8% over the same period of last year. Same-day visitors made up 52.3% of the total, at 9,012,494.

Visitor arrivals by sea increased by 14.6% to 5,754,666 over the first eight months of 2006. Meanwhile, arrivals by land grew by 26.5% to 10,533,698 and arrivals by air rose by 17.5% to 941,719.
