Value of retail sales totalled MOP 20.38 billion, up by 2.6% as compared with the revised figure of MOP 19.87 billion in the fourth quarter of 2018;
yet, a decrease of 1.9% was observed year-on-year.

After removing the effect of price changes, volume of retail sales rose by 3.9% quarter-to-quarter but fell by 2.1% year-on-year. Among the major retail activities, sales volumes of Motor Vehicles, Communication Equipment and Adults' Clothing registered notable year-on-year decrease, while sales volumes of Leather Goods, Goods in Department Stores and Goods in Supermarkets increased.
