RETAIL SALES SURVEY

- Value of retail sales totalled MOP 14.73 billion, down by 5.8% compared with the revised figure of MOP 15.64 billion in the fourth quarter of 2015 and by 11.2%

year-on-year.

- After removing the effect of price changes, volume of retail sales decreased by 4.1% quarter-to-quarter and by 8.7% year-on-year. Sales volume of Motor Vehicles; Motorcycles, Parts & Accessories; Footwear; Watches, Clocks & Jewellery and Household Appliances recorded notable year-on-year decline, while that of Cosmetics & Sanitary Articles; Chinese Food Products; Adults' Clothing; Leather Goods and Goods in Pharmacies saw increase.
