To: tristinlee07@wits.edu.co.za From: d.rodman@wits.edu.co.za Subject: Students’ Homework Dear Tristin,

Please explain to our French students their English homework for this week. A few of them seemed confused, so I’ve told them that the teaching assistant would send them an e-mail.

Basically, each group must make a talk show. The topic of the talk show should be

“French Students’ Respond to Video about ________.” I’ve left a blank because I want them to choose an interesting video from YouTube and give their opinion about it. They should give their opinion of the video in the form of a talk show. The length of their talk show should be between 7-10 minutes. Anything shorter and they’ll have to do a power point presentation as punishment. They should upload their video to my blog in two weeks’ time.

I hope this is clear enough, but let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

Dennis

Dear Mr. Rogers,

I am writing to complain about the poor service that your restaurant gave us and our foreign business partners last week Saturday evening. Although we arranged everything with you in advance, many things did not go ahead as planned.

There are three serious problems we want to bring to your attention. First, when your waiter saw us walking into the restaurant, he pretended to be busy and made us wait for an unacceptable fifteen minutes. Second, our meals were terribly undercooked, so we had to return them and wait again. Third, and the most serious of all, we overheard your waiter remark that our foreign guests looked like migrant labors. That appalled us, to say the least.

Since we, L&L Construction, value our relationship with our business partners, we take these problems very seriously. Therefore, we hope you could deal with them and send us a reply as soon as possible.

Again, we are very concerned by what had happened.

Yours faithfully, Anne Hardingham Manager
