The sport industry has been developing along with the economic growth and became an important role for enhancing residents’ life quality in Taiwan. Sport service industries (SSI) created 500 millions US dollars in 2001, while manufacturers created 1.2 billions. From the perspective of industry life cycle, SSI is just in the growth stage. For substantial development, it is necessary to clarify what important issues they are facing and how to react to cope with these issues.

The economic system had transformed into service industries in Taiwan. In ‘Challenge 2008- National Development Plan’ of Executive Yuan, SSI was the priority industry. In ‘The Compendiums & Action Points of Recreational Sport Service Industries’, 12 service industries were selected as main development objects, and the 9th was ‘Tourism & Recreational Sport Service Industries’. ‘The Compendiums & Action Points of Recreational Sport Service Industries’ was established. Therefore, SSI should temporize the trend to offer completes services to enrich the service industry network.

Literature review and interview will be conducted to explore the development of SSI in Taipei City and international environment. Domestic experts, enterprises and foreign experts from USA, China, Japan, and Korea will be interview in this study. The purpose of this study is to explore the SSI circumstance and development issues, and coping strategies with reference of foreign experience. It would be valuable to enhance the life quality, expand economic value by sport service industry.
