Under the impact of globalization and informationization, governments of all nations around the world have been trying to strengthen their
national competitiveness as the most important objective, and thus become one of the priorities of the government's long-term policy. IT industry competitiveness is an index of measuring the productivity and efficiency of a country, to develop IT industry competitiveness will enhance the
economic recovery and establish the future foundation of productivity, and therefore, will foster the national competitiveness of a country. On the other hand, E-Readiness is an ability to use information and communication technologies (ICT) to develop a country’s economy and to foster its
welfare. E-Readiness indices can also be used to track the global digital divide, the higher the E-Readiness indices a country has, and the more competitive the country is.
In this paper, we apply Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) to explore whether the global competitiveness, published by World Economic Forum (WEF), is affected by IT industry competitiveness and E-Readiness,
published by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). It is found that: (1) the IT industry competitiveness has significantly impact on the global
competitiveness; and (2) the E-readiness has partially impact to the global competitiveness.
