Why Winter or Summer Vacation Outside Reader?
Winter or summer vacation is a good time for students to sharpen their English reading ability.
Thus, as an English teacher, I often ask students to make good use of time to read English ourside readers to broaden their horizon and pick up some precious knowldege from the readers. Usually, I will mark students’
performance by giving them test papers or ask them to complete pieces of worksheet together through brainstorming and cooperative learning in class. I hope students can enjoy learning by reading as well as having fun by performing the worksheet. The worksheet includes finding new or unfamiliar vocabulary, analyzing characters, writing a story summary, answering some open questions and displaying their talent to provide some illustrations related to the story or characters.
To sum up, making good use of time during vacation is a good method to cultivate students’ ability and enpower their potential to develop a better foreigh language reading skill.
