At the SME Exhibition to be held on 5 and 6 February 1999 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will showcase the various services and support it can provide to local small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Business and Management, and the Technology Transfer Center of the University will all participate in the exhibition.
The School of Science will present its research areas including traditional Chinese medicines, a vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease, and ÔsmartÕ fluid etc. where local SMEs can find business opportunities. In addition, the Biotechnology Research Institute and the Center for Coastal and Atmospheric Research will be briefly introduced.
The School of Engineering will highlight its Engineering Industrial Consortium at the exhibition. The Consortium has 18 technology units working in six broad technology areas: information technology, microelectronics and electronic systems, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy and environment, and advanced materials. The purpose of the Consortium is to give SMEs the opportunity to access the full range of expertise, resources, and facilities of the School.
