SUMMER CAMPS FOR F.6 STUDENTS AT HKUST
What can students expect to find at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology? What are the laboratories and classrooms like? How does it feel to live on campus? More than 550 Form 6 students will find out this summer when they get a taste of university life at a summer camps held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
The Engineering Summer Camp for Honour Students, scheduled from 12 to 16 July, will feature a special dinner at which Dr Lily Chiang, Executive Director of the Chen Hson Holdings Ltd, will speak on the role of women engineers in the industry. Ano tf er h.rg ght of the camp will be a talk given by Dr James Liu, Chief Executive 4.i Officer of the Hong Kong Lndusrial Technology Centre Corporation who will describe how engineers can prepare to assume managerial roles in their career.
Besides gaming hands-on experience in laboratory and participating in career talks, the students will pit their ingenuity and innate engineering skills against one another by designing and building a launch and recovery system using only simple materials and teamwork.
In the School of Science, the Physics Department will host three sessions of its popular summer camp from 15 July to 1 August. About 230 Form 6 students will spend four days experiencing student-centered learning environment and gaining familiarity with physics laboratory facilities.

Business-oriented Form 6 students from 37 local secondary schools will take part in a summer camp hosted by HKUST’s School of Business and Management from 17 to 19 July. Participants will be introduced to undergraduate programs in business and management, campus facilities and likely career prospects.
Students will also demonstrate their presentation skills in a case-study competition on the last day of the live-in program.
