Symposium on Biotechnology to be Presented at HKUST

A “Hong Kong Symposium on Biotechnology” organised by HKUST’s Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI) is to be presented in the

Lee Wing Tat Lecture Theatre (D) at the Hong Kong University of Science

and Technology on 24 September 1994 (Saturday).

Symposium organiser Professor Tian-Yow Tsong, Director of BRI, notes that the symposium will bring biotechnologists from local tertiary institutions and industry together, with the aim of stimulating biotechnology research activities, encouraging communication and facilitating cooperation.

Since the establishment of the BRI in 1991, some significant progress has been made by local researchers. The symposium will allow them to report on their research achievement in areas such as biomedical instrumentation and diagnostics, drug delivery and development, agricultural and environmental engineering, genetic engineering, biosensors, immunology, and molecular genetics of plants.

The programme will include sixteen presentations, of which ten will be presented by twelve HKUST researchers.
