EXHIBIT OF MAJOR CHINESE ARTIST OPENS AT HKUST

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Library will present an exhibition, “The Ceaseless Line: Recent Works by Chu Ko”, in the University Library Gallery from 2 March to 28 April 1995.

Yuan Dexing, better known by his pen name, Chu Ko, is a person of various talents. In the past ten years, Chu Ko has devoted most of his attention to painting and sculpture. He has been a major voice in Taiwan’s literary and art scene as a poet, prose writer and art critic, and an important force helping to mold the modernization of Chinese art.

This exhibition displays Chu Ko’s recent paintings along two major themes: “symphony of the fields” and “the knot’s structure”. The artist breaks down the barriers between representation and abstraction and utilizes his vigorous brushwork to weave these disparate themes into a single, unified art.
