Senior government officials, top business executives and leading academics will shed light on the future of Hong Kong’s telecommunications industry at a special forum at HKUST this Saturday, 25 November.
q
Theforum, which is sponsored by HKUST’s Information and Systems Management Department, will focus on two aspects of the telecommunications industry: policy initiatives and the latest developments in the field.“We hope to generate a very creative and dynamic interaction between the government, the private sector and academia, allowing them to understand one another’s concerns and to discuss the new issues of the telecommunications industry from their different perspectives,” said Dr Ben Petrazzini, an assistant professor in the ISMT department and one of the organisers of the forum.
Dr Milton L. Mueller, a visiting scholar in the ISMT department, will chair the discussion on public policy, focusing on issues such as subsidising residential telephone services, licensing Internet services and interconnection arrangements.
