However, after rich people moved to other places of the city, downtown Los Angeles became a place only for poor workers because it was difficult for them to find a new house.

About 3,260 years ago, Troy and Sparta began to fight with each other after the Trojan prince, Paris, asked Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband, Menelaus, and sailed back to Troy with him. The angry Menelaus found out and set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 people of Sparta to Troy. The war went on for years; Troy still stayed safe.

One day, a few soldiers of Sparta brought a big wooden horse, and most other soldiers sailed away, with only some staying near Troy. They climbed inside the horse. One soldier, Sinon, pretended to be angry with his country people, saying that they left him alone. He told the Trojans that this horse was safe and would bring good luck to Trojans. They were happy and dragged the horse full of foods into Troy. That night, when the Trojans were sleeping, Sinon let the soldiers of Sparta out from the horse, opened the gate, and they took over the city.

Apr. 10, 2015 Dear Diary,

I did something really stupid to Vincent at school today; I wrote him a love poem. He has been so great a friend to me, always trying to be as helpful as he could every time I am hurt. I still remember on the first day as a new student

(4)

here six months ago, I was too shy to talk. I even cried because of missing my hometown, Tainan. While most of the boys laughed at me for this, Vincent, however, was the first one who stood up for me and introduced the new city to me. Day by day, my love to Vincent grows more and more. I dream of being his girlfriend though Mandy has been the one for two years!

The following is my poem.

A special feeling is coming over me. There is sunshine around me. Not a cloud, not a rain drop.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a dream. Looking down on everything,

I know I am at the top of the world. It’s the love from you that gives me power to be here;

it’s your love that changes me!

Will he take my love? Or, will he be angry and leave me away? Will anyone else reading the poem play a trick on me? Will Jessica, Mandy’s best friend, hate me and stop being my friend? Oh, no! Will the teacher catch Vincent reading the poem and should I go to school tomorrow?

63.Who will get the love poem first? (A) The teacher. (B) Vincent. (C) Mandy. (D) Jessica.

64.Which of the following has the closest meaning to the line, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a

dream?
