The Research and Analysis on the Issues Facing Cultural Differences in
Translating Korean Literatures

In stumbling into the global age or the so-called culture age of modern time, just like all other academic realms, the researches about translation study has started to emphasize on the considerations of those factors , such as, the thesis and resources of the article, history and tradition, closely linked to culture.
The reason why culture plays such a large factor regarding to translations is because culture uses particular language as a technique of expression to present co-shared community and an unique life style. Therefore, the translators must not only own the ability to be fluent in both languages but also possess a rich knowledge and accomplishments and a deep understanding for the cultures behind both languages, then they can be competent for this role to be the ambassador to link cultures.
Korea is one of our neighboring countries and ithas been nurtured by Confucianism for a long time. In some ways, it can be said that the developing process of Korean traditional culture is the absorption and recreation process of the Chinese culture. Therefore, the imageries presented by both cultures are so similar suggesting for most people there isn't any cultural difference or culture disturbing existing between Korean and Chinese translation; however, once one starts to work on the Korean and Chinese translation, soon he/she will be practically affected that this thought is just a prejudice made by first impressions.
Nevertheless, in regards to culture, due to different geographic conditions and historical backgrounds, different races form particular trends of thoughts, beliefs, values and attitudes along with give unique cultural connotations in each individual language. Then, the cultural differences hidden with in the languages will often times become the hardship for translation or even become the key to determining whether the translator can successfully translate the articles.
This article will first discuss where the difficulties in translation occurred due to cultural differences while practically working on the translating of Korean literatures. Through the process of inspecting the differences between Korean cultures and Chinese cultures by using those formally published Korean literatures present nationwide for the past several decades.
Then a step will be gained in better understanding how to resolve those issues discovered herein, finding out the proper translation methods for correctly deciphering the content, properly depicting Korean background and at the same time selecting the words or phrases that best represent the cultural differences. Finally, this plan can organize a workable way to decrease the faulty translations minimizing cultural differences.
