ABSTRACT During the now famous Bol~ino autumn of 1830 (which Pushkin was forced to spend at his country estate due to a cholera epidemic), Pushkin made his prose debut with the {Povesti pokoinogo Ivan Petrovicha Belkina (Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin)} . In the experimental works, the poet successfully established some characters of the "little man". Among all the heroes of the tales, Silvio in {The Shot}, in which the structure ofthe duel plays a pivotal role, is the most controversial. The mysterious, skilled marksman could not put up with t.he existence of the Count, who was superior to him in everything, and decided to take revenge on the latter. After the "lucky guy" showed his timidity and panic, Silvio felt satisfied and left. It seemed an extreme parody to the gloomy, solitary antihero who was proud of his own diligent, excellent marksmanship but ended up dying in a defeated battle as a mercenary.. '<'.
