CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT AT HKUST
“Recent Works by Katherine Chang Liu and Julia Nee Chu” will be exhibited in the University Library Gallery at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 8 February to 5 April 1996.
Katherine Chang Liu and Julia Nee Chu were born on the Chinese mainland and educated in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the U.S., where they pursued their artistic careers. Their works are highly regarded for subtly combining western modernism and a Chinese heritage.
“The two artists have different styles, but there is also a contrasting harmony in their work,” says Min-Min Chang, Director of Library, who curates the exhibition. “Chu is dynamic and expressive whereas Liu is subtle and introspective. Nevertheless, they share a common source of inspiration. Stylistic variations are just different routes leading to the same destination.”
The two artists will discuss their work at the opening of the exhibition on 8 February at 3:00 pm. A tea reception will follow at 4:30 pm.
