HKUST MBA Ranks #17 in the World in Financial Times

Ranking

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) today announced that its full-time MBA program has been ranked by the Financial Times at number 17 in the world, the highest ever for any Hong Kong run program on the chart.

Four months ago in September 2007, the HKUST MBA was ranked by another major international agency the Economist Intelligence Unit as number 1 in Asia and number 20 in the world.

Among this year’s Financial Times list for the top 100 MBA programs, 7 are from Asia Pacific. The HKUST Business School is the only representation from Hong Kong. The other schools include two from Mainland China, two from Australia, and one each from India and Singapore.

The HKUST MBA program ranks number 2 in the world for “international faculty” and number 5 in the world for the “international experience” that it provides to students. In the Financial Times “research rank”, HKUST places 20th in the world. The research rank is a rating of faculty publications in 40 international academic and practitioner journals that are considered to be the most prestigious and respected in their fields.

Professor Leonard Cheng, Acting Dean of the HKUST Business School, said, “The Financial Times annual MBA ranking measures the performance of a school and its full-time MBA program in 20 different categories. I am delighted that the result of this comprehensive survey reflects the quality of the School and our MBA program and reaffirms our leading position in management education.”

Professor Steven DeKrey, Director of MBA Program, said, “Our MBA program aspires to be a leader in the development of international business talent. As reflected in the latest FT rankings, 84% of the participants in the HKUST full-time MBA program are international students and it is one of the most international programs in the world in terms of student diversity. Our program also ranks number 20 in the world in terms of ‘international mobility’. This is very encouraging to us in our quest to educate and develop high quality talent in Asia for the world.”
