Sculpture and Installation Art Exhibition
to be staged at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Hong Kong's first ever exhibition of sculpture and installation art, "Art & Space: Sculpture to Installation", will be staged on the campus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from October 15 to December 31, 1993.
A key attraction in the University's programme for its first - . - -
-, I Congregation (October 20) and Open Days (October 22-23), this unique large-scale installation art and sculptural display promises to be a major art event in Hong Kong. It will explore the relationship between sculpture and installation and the aesthetic and social implications of these quintessentially modern forms of three-dimensional expression.
Eleven local artists, including Chan Yuk Keung, May Fung, Ha Bik Chuen, Lam Kong, Antonio Mak, the NUX group, Ellen Pau, Tong King
Sum, Wong Shun Kit, Yank Wong, Ricky Yeung, have been invited to choose sites around the University to display their work. Also exhibited will be sculptures by Chinese artists Fu Zhongwang (Hubei) and Gu Dexin (Beijing), giving Hong Kong viewers a rare glimpse of the progress of this medium in post-'89 China. In all about twelve sculptures and sixteen installations will be displayed.
"Art & Space" will be jointly presented by the Arts Endowment Committee of the University and the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Oscar . .I. ._ :. Ho, the director of the Arts Centre, has been invited to be the
