Visitor arrivals by land and by air increased by 3.8% and 9.3% respectively year-on-year, while those arriving by sea decreased by 14.1%.
Visitors from Mainland China decreased by 3.5% year-on-year; concurrently, those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme dropped by 4.6%.
Visitors from the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong registered decrease, while those from Taiwan recorded an increase. Long-haul visitors from the United States and the United Kingdom decreased year-on-year; however, those from Australia and Canada increased.
Visitor arrivals decreased by 2.8% year-on-year to 2,477,591. Same-day visitors dropped by 8.3% whereas overnight visitors rose by 3.8%. The average length of stay of visitors increased by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.2 days. Total visitor arrivals in the first five months decreased marginally by 0.8% year-on-year, at 12,405,950.
